Container Deposit Scheme (NSW)
From December 1 2017, consumers in NSW will be able to claim 10 cents back on every eligible container from a refund collection centre. That cost is covered by a Levy applied to beverage manufacturers by a NSW Government appointed Scheme Operator. It is important to be aware that the Levy not only covers the 10 cents refund, it also covers the cost of the scheme which is likely to be between 5 and 10 cents additional to the 10 cents refund. IVG will be merely recovering this Levy by adding the total cost of the Levy to the products it sells in NSW. It is not a price increase. IVG is being very open and transparent about this levy. IVG is obliged to pay this levy to the NSW Government appointed Scheme Operator from October 31st 2017, and will therefore be applying this levy from the same date. That is why we are engaging very early to explain what we are doing. Whilst we don’t know the exact amount of the Levy yet, we know the date of the application of this Levy. As soon as we know how much the Levy is by container type we will advise you.
